Our Confirmation program is led by Rabbi Rosenfeld with help from Cantor Finn and has a different tone than other classes in the CASJS. Rabbi Rosenfeld’s philosophy is that by 10th grade, our young people are entering adulthood and he strives to treat them accordingly asking that they be honest, forthright and respectful.

For most of the year the curriculum focuses on personal ethics, our obligation to other individuals, and respecting ourselves and others. The highlight of the year is our annual trip to Washington D.C. for the URJ Religious Action Center’s annual L’taken Seminar. There, our students learn to think critically about issues important to them and lobby our elected representatives on pieces of legislation that are important to them.

Historically, the Confirmation Service occurred on Shavuot. This year, 2020, we will follow that tradition and the services will be on Erev Shavuot, Thursday May 28 beginning at 6:00 P.M. Our students will lead the service and share with us their feelings about Judaism, God, and community.
