CONGREGATION ALBERT OFFERS COURSE " WHO WROTE THE BIBLE?"
ALBUQUERQUE, NM----Congregation Albert, Albuquerques Reform Congregation will offer "Who Wrote The Bible?" in its program of Adult Education courses. The course will be led by Mr. Fred March and will be held at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana Blvd. NE, Albuquerque. The class will meet bi-weekly from 10:30 A.M. to Noon, starting on Sunday October 4 and will run to December 18. The cost of the course is $15 for members of Congregation Albert and $30 for non-members.
The course aims to gain an understanding of the people of the Biblical era through the study of the Jewish Scriptures, and through readings of selected scholars and historians.
It will focus on the history, politics, diplomacy and religious life of the ancient Hebrews as a way of illuminating who wrote various texts and their reasons. The course is not meant to be a rigorous academic study. The participants will discuss their own insights and imagine what religious and political parties they might have followed.
Mr. March is an avid student of Jewish history and is currently writing a book, God as Ideal vs. Idol in the Biblical Tradition. Mr. March is an environmental scientist at Sandia National Laboratories, and has authored several professional books.
For enrollment, please call Congregation Albert at 883-1818.
