Congregation Albert Sisterhood - December 2005
Sisterhood News
We hope that you have taken time to Count Your Blessings. There are so many people who are not as fortunate as we are. When we disburse the money we collect in our fundraisers we are rededicating ourselves to those in need, and recommitting ourselves to our Mitzvah projects.December 25 is the first night of Chanukah and we already gearing up for the holiday. I grew up lighting the chanukiah, playing dreidel, eating latkes and sufganiyot but receiving only one bag of gelt to get me through the week! Presents were never a part of this, let alone eight days of them! But in keeping up with the times, Sisterhood is sponsoring a great family activity on December 20 from 6 to 9 pm, just after schools close for winter break. We will have several tables for various crafts and creative activities, and the best part is that the children can make presents to take home.
Try something new! Since Chanukah is a time of miracles, dedicate its lights to people who have added light to your life. Dedicate each night to a different person or group: spouse, children, siblings, parents. Take time to tell them, write your thoughts down and send them to each person. You will make this Chanukah so much more meaningful.
Happy Chanukah!
