From the President - December 2005

"Act while you can, while you have the chance, the means, and the strength."
Babylonian Talmud, Shabbat 151a

Dear Friends,

As I mentioned last month, this is a very exciting time for our congregation. You are invited to celebrate this opportunity with us as we create and implement our dreams. Inspired by our Rabbi Joseph Black, Cantor Barbara Finn, and supported by our Board of Trustees, Congregation Albert is on the move to discover, define and reach its potential. To realize this objective, we are carefully examining our demographics and using that information to better understand our congregation's profile and overall needs.

Two of these stand out:

  1. Evaluate and reshape our informal and formal education programs for both young and adult learners.
  2. Fine tune our committees so that they can more easily and effectively achieve their goals.

This work in progress welcomes your participation. As is it written in Ecclesiastes 9:9, "Two are better off than one. They have a greater reward for their labor."  Each of us has something to contribute, so choose an area of interest and get involved.

Not sure how you can help? Not to worry. Call the Rabbi, Cantor, or me; we'll work with you to make the perfect shidech (match). The possibilities are numerous, so don't sit this one out. Join the circle and DANCE!

B'shalom,
Shawn Perry-Turner, President
