From the President - November 2005

During Tishrei, we welcomed the New Year, atoned for our sins, celebrated the harvest, and danced with the Torah. While Cheshvan/November appears quieter, there is still much going on at Congregation Albert. And the beat goes on.

The results are in! The Strategic Analysis Task Force, chaired by Marina Rabinowitz, will present its findings based on our surveys and other pertinent data. There will be two opportunities to attend presentations which will show a detailed snapshot of our congregation today, and a projection of who we will be in the future. Watch for the announcements of the dates; plan to attend one presentation, as your participation and input are important.

The Youth Initiative Task Force continues its work, gathering information from our congregation and others, so that it can offer recommendations for the development of an enhanced youth culture. Note: All members, whether or not there are children living at home, are encouraged to complete the surveys from this task force as your input will help shape its opinions.

In the near future, a new model for our youth's formal and informal education and adult learning will be developed, based upon the results of these two Task Forces. During our transitional stage, we are fortunate to have Marcia Mermelstein on staff as Interim Director of Religious Education. Marcia's extensive expertise and experience in informal and formal youth and family education are wonderful assets, which will have both short and long term influence here.

So, as you can see, this is an exciting time for our congregation, filled with opportunity and possibility. Please join us as we explore and create our future; it belongs to each of us.

B'shalom,
Shawn Perry-Turner, President
