Congregation Albert Sisterhood - September 2005
Sisterhood News
Sisterhood did not take a summer vacation! What else is new? Women seldom take time to rest. In fact, we seldom allow ourselves time to sit and reflect. That was the incredible accomplishment of the July workshop with Edith Caplan from Women in Reform Judaism: we took time to learn how to foster the ideas and ideals of WRJ and to pray and study together. This past August we again enjoyed the opera outing to see The Barber of Seville in Santa Fe. Thanks to one of our most active Sisterhood members, Ellen Levy, for organizing this event. On August 27 we held our first Family Night Spaghetti Dinner & Games. Todah Rabah to Diana Paul and her team for conceiving and organizing this new event. We promise more programs that include families and young children.
The Fundraising Team thanks everyone who made this year's rummage sale the best ever, with sales of over $9000. Now is the time to go through your jewelry boxes and donate your "gently used jewelry" for our spectacular event in January. Watch for details!
Speaking of inclusion, Sisterhood has begun our annual membership drive headed by Margie Pintzow, Membership VP, and Judi Mead, Financial VP. Only 35% of our congregants belong to Sisterhood; we would like to increase that number this year to 50%, with an ultimate goal of 100% membership. You should have received our membership brochure and a letter from Rabbi Black highlighting our mission, vision and accomplishments. Belonging to Sisterhood means being part of our community and its future. We depend on every woman in this congregation to sustain the values and tenets of Jewish life. If you have any questions, please send us a note at . We would love to welcome you into our Sisterhood family.
B'shalom,
Marina Rabinowitz () and Michelle
Fromm-Lewis (), Co-presidents
