Congregation Albert Brotherhood - September 2005
Brotherhood News
Sunday, September 18, Brotherhood Program: "Dude, Where's my party?"
Both Democrats and Republicans are confused these days. Republicans question the neo-cons in the Bush White House, and media commentators seem like administration shills. Democrats wonder how they miscalculated so badly nominating John Kerry, how their traditional messages failed to resonate with voters. Both parties lament, "Whatever happened to my party? I don't recognize it anymore."
Kicking off the next cycle of Sunday brunches sponsored by the Congregation Albert Brotherhood will be two players and sharp observers of the political scene. Former New Mexico Republican Governor Dave Cargo, originally from Michigan, currently practices law and has a reputation as an environmentalist and organizer; New Mexico native and Democratic Party Chairman John Wertheim is a trial lawyer who has worked on Democratic campaigns since 1992. They will discuss how their respective parties have evolved over the years, the perceived successes and failures, and where they think their parties are headed.
