From the President - August 2005

I am humbled and proud to hold the position of President; it is a privilege that I commit to fully from the heart. As we continue to develop our congregation's potential, my wish is to gather our collective ruachim (life spirits), talents and energies to realize our congregational dreams, woven of Jewish values and common goals.

Now is an exciting time for our congregation. Secured by the efforts and accomplishments of previous Boards of Trustees, who partnered with our clergy and were assisted by the work and generosity of Sisterhood and Brotherhood, our immediate future is stable and filled with great possibilities.

Here are highlights of what we're working on right now:

• Contract negotiations with Rabbi Black began in July.
• With regret, we have begun the search for an interim Director of Education, as Leah Schaer will accompany her husband John to a new post in Fort Collins, Colorado. While this is a loss for our community, we are happy for John's opportunity.
• Development of an accurate congregational profile from our Strategic Analysis Task Force is underway. Its goal? What we look like today and what we will look like in five years.
• Our Youth Initiative Task Force is working diligently to mold the vision of an enhanced Congregation Albert Youth Culture into a feasible plan, using the findings of our Strategic Analysis Task Force coupled with its own research.
• Investment in our future - the money piece. We are aggressively investigating fiscally responsible ways to improve even further our financial situation. We will share the details as they become available.

Building upon our existing foundation and supported by caring clergy, staff, faculties and a committed congregation, we can look forward to a future guided by a shared kavanah ha-lev (direction of the heart).
