From the President - April 2005
Dear Friends:
Annual Golf Event ... Hopefully, the golfers among us are making plans to attend our Annual Golf Event. This important fundraiser, which is jointly sponsored by Congregation Albert and the JCC, will take place on Monday, May 9th at the spectacular Twin Warriors Golf Course at the Tamaya Resort. Sponsorships at several levels are still available. Please contact Steven Rogers (766-7202) or Andrew Lipman (480-9883) to learn how you can support your temple and have fun at the same time.
Growing Pains ... We are currently 698 families. I'm guessing that this translates to around 1,500 people. In terms of being able to effectively support our growing family we are at a crossroad. While our financial health remains solid, it has been my view for some time that our office staff and clergy are stretched thin. Yet there are reasonable demands for ever more services and programs. And our financial resources are finite.
Membership dues take us only so far, currently representing about 60% of our total revenue. An additional 27% comes from school and camp tuition. Fundraising, including contributions, make up less than 7% of our operating revenue. We can and must do better in the area of fundraising. It is not unreasonable to expect fundraising to contribute a minimum of 10% to 15% of our operating revenue. The trick is finding ways to encourage support for our fundraisers from outside our immediate temple community. You'll be hearing more on this subject soon.
B'shalom
