From the President - December 2004
Shalom Chaverim:
Kol Nidre Appeal:
Many of you have been generous with your contributions to this year's appeal, and the board thanks you. For those of you who have been planning to send in your gift before year end, I'm here to tell you that the year is about to end! Please be as generous as you are able. Our results to date are down a good 25% from recent drives.
Youth Initiative
You'll recall Rabbi Black's Rosh Hashanah sermon that as a temple community we need to do a better job in making our youth feel welcome in our house. The driving force behind Rabbi Black's comments is that as a congregation we need to do more to reach out and engage our youth after the B'nai Mitzvah thank you notes have been sent.
The board of trustees agrees with Rabbi Black and supports making our temple as inviting to our youth as it is to the adults in our community. Our newly formed Youth Initiative Taskforce will provide substance and direction to our youth program. They will assess what should be done to help our youth make Judaism an integral part of their life and report their recommendations to the board. In addition to the strong leadership of our clergy and the Youth Task Force, it is essential that parents and grandparents participate in the process of building a "youth friendly" congregation.
B'shalom
