School News - October 2004

From the Director of Education

Simchat Torah literally means "Joy of Torah". This holiday marks the annual completion and beginning of the reading of the Torah. Simchat Torah (Oct. 6th) provides us with the chance to celebrate the opportunities for learning that Torah provides each one of us.

In preparation for Simchat Torah, the Religious School will be having our annual "Torah Un-rolling" on Sunday, October 3rd. We invite you to join us for this wonderful tradition here at Congregation Albert, as Rabbi Black & Cantor Finn "walk us" through our Torah. The Torah will be opened onto the laps of all our students. Our religious school morning will begin with our family worship at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by the Torah unrolling. Each grade will then return to their respective classrooms.

Please note the following Adult Education Programs for October:

For details, please refer to course catalog sent out with last month's bulletin or check the online version.

As the New Year begins I'm looking forward to continuing to learn with you.

B'shalom,
Leah Schaer

Introducing Family T'fillah (Worship)

Family Worship is a new part of our Religious School experience and curriculum. Families with children who are enrolled in our Religious School program are expected to worship together with their children, Rabbi Black and Cantor Finn on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. when Religious School is in session.

The entire Congregation Albert "Family" is invited to join us in starting the day by sharing this sacred time together.
