From the President - September 2004
Shalom Chaverim:This year's Kol Nidre Appeal will focus on completing projects ancillary to the building and furnishing of our new lounge. Thanks to a wonderful bequest from our late friend and leader, Geoffrey Kalmus, the Kalmus Lounge is now a reality. We have been further blessed as the furniture for our new lounge was generously provided by Lee Blaugrund.
During the planning for the Kalmus Lounge, the board came to the conclusion that this was also the time to renovate our offices, entry foyer and rotunda area. To minimize the expense to our Building Fund, this year's Kol Nidre Appeal will support the purchase of items such as furniture for the offices of Rabbi Black and Cantor Finn; an improved sound system; and additions to our security system.
Why the emphasis on conserving our Building Fund? We know of at least two upcoming projects that will require significant expenditures. One is expanding our cemetery by preparing the undeveloped property just to the north of our existing cemetery; the second is renovating our sanctuary, which is showing its age. Help us to conserve the Building Fund for these necessary and important projects by contributing generously to this year's Kol Nidre Appeal.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, my family and I wish you and yours a good and sweet new year, a Shanah Tovah u'Metukah, as we enter these Days of Awe.
L'shanah Tovah,
Gary Singer
