Congregation Albert Sisterhood - August 2004

Sisterhood News

With summer still in full swing, Sisterhood is already gearing up for a busy and productive year. Program Vice Presidents Henri Courtnage and Arlene Paglia have already lined up stimulating and educational programs through January, and Membership Vice Presidents Joan Lubin and Marina Brown are ready to hunt you down and sign you up - if you aren't already a Sisterhood member!

Sisterhood is truly the heart and soul of our congregational community. This past year, we contributed financially to the following projects: the renovation of our Social Hall ($36,000!), the D'vora Project (which provides services for victims of domestic violence), the Holocaust Museum, the JFS Food Pantry, Cuidando los Ninos, Healthcare for the Homeless, and two Reform congregations in California that sustained damage from the San Diego fires. In addition, Sisterhood is committed to annual support of our Religious School, Youth Group, Adult Education, and the Temple's operating budget. We even help pay for our yearly kitchen super cleaning! We are incredibly proud of our efforts and our members, and look forward to doing even more in the year to come.

In May, we celebrated our Donors at a beautiful donor brunch. Those of you who attended will remember that while the program was outstanding, the food and service were less than stellar. Thanks to Donor Chair, Michaeline Boyet, we received a 50% refund and an apology! Next year's Donor Luncheon chairs Joan Lubin and Joyce Friedman promise that the event will be fabulous in every way.

We hope to see you at the Santa Fe Opera on August 21, and at our opening luncheon on Sept. 9, featuring the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra.

B'Shalom,
Linda Hayon and Marina Rabinowitz, co-presidents
