From the President - August 2004
Dear Friends:While summer is usually `down time' for the professional staff, that is not the case this year. Those buzzes you hear around the temple this summer are literally saws shaping our new lounge and office renovation. We broke ground in June and I couldn't be more pleased with the work and support of our architect, Mullen Heller, and construction firm, Britton Construction. The staffs of both firms have been both cooperative and very dedicated to ensuring we get a high quality return on our investment.
To help offset the buzz of the saws, is the music being made by our new cantor, Barbara R. Finn. Cantor Finn joined our temple community on July 1st, and is already inspiring us with her wonderful voice and leadership. Please make your voice heard by welcoming Cantor Finn and husband, David, if you've not already done so. I believe you, too, will find them to be very much like us warm and inviting!
Of course, we are all abuzz knowing that Rabbi and Sue Black will be taking somewhat of a backseat at their daughter, Elana's, Bat Mitzvah on August 28th. We offer our most heartfelt congratulations and mazel tov to Elana, Rabbi Black, Sue and Ethan on this special day.
And my final buzz is reserved for all of our pledging members whose response to this year's pledge drive was so positive. Special thanks to those members who were able to increase their pledge by at least 5%. That was close to 45% of all pledging members. Thank you!
L'Shalom,
Gary Singer
