Congregation Albert Sisterhood - June/July 2004
Sisterhood News
Although the summer is already upon us, Sisterhood has two wonderful programs in June that we invite you to be part of. On Tuesday, June 15 (having saved the best luncheon for last!) our luncheon program will feature our own Rabbi Black. This is always a popular luncheon, so make your reservations early and join us to hear a timely and stimulating discussion. On June 26, Sisterhood is hosting a barbeque dinner and western hoedown at the Temple. See the enclosed flyer, and send in your reservations to be part of the fun, y'all. As Sisterhood's fiscal and programmatic year winds down, we thank our outgoing Board members for their support, sacrifice, and energies. Our appreciation goes out to Ellen Levy, Meryl Manning Segel, Michaeline Kelly-Boyet, Robin Jacobvitz, and Glenda Orchant. These women have given more to our Temple than many of you realize, and we gratefully salute them. A special note of thanks goes to Lori Liebman, outgoing co-President. Lori has selflessly led our Sisterhood through two successful years, and has been a source of great personal support and mentorship. Todah rabah, Lori!
It thrills me to welcome a new Sisterhood co-President, Marina Rabinowitz, and a fantastic new Board that will ably carry on the work of our Sisters. Please let us know if you would like to be part of this great team.
On a personal note, as this Bulletin arrives in your mailboxes, my husband and I will be in Cincinnati at Hebrew Union College where our son Oren will be ordained as a Rabbi. In July, Oren will be moving to Dallas with his wife Julie to serve as Assistant Rabbi at Temple Emanu-El. This simcha fills me with pride and a renewed sense of commitment to Sisterhood and the Women of Reform Judaism, which supports HUC-JIR here and in Israel with financial assistance to rabbinic students, sponsors many special projects including six early childhood programs, and provides education and future leadership for Reform Judaism worldwide.
Shalom,
Linda Hayon
