From the President - June/July 2004
We recognize that this is a bittersweet time for our congregation. We are saying L'hitra'ot, until we meet again, to our cantor of seven years, Cantor Jacquie Shuchat-Marx. At the same time, we are welcoming Cantor Barbara R. Finn, who will be joining us effective July 1, 2004. I hope you will join me at Shabbat services on June 18th, as together we will sing the praises of Cantor Jacquie.Cantor Jacquie's legacy to us has many facets, as she has touched numerous lives in our community. She will be remembered by the many B'nai Mitzvot that she tutored over the years. Cantor Jacquie was a leader in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Multicultural Commission, which is responsible for generating several scholarships a year to deserving students. She contributed significantly to the formation and subsequent success of our Caring Program. Cantor Jacquie's attention to those in need within our community has been an inspiration to all of us.
Then there is that magnificent voice. Cantor Jacquie has always inspired us with her musical talents. She led us spiritually in the chanting of prayers and taught us new music. In addition, Cantor Jacquie designed and delivered delicious Purim Spiels, such as this year's Herschel Potter program, just to mention a few of her countless contributions.
Cantor Jacquie, we thank you for your devotion and dedication to our congregation and our community, and wish you, Mark and Harry much success as you pursue new endeavors.
L'Shalom,
Gary Singer, President
