From the President - May 2004

Dear Friends:

Each year at this time we ask that you renew your financial commitment to your temple. There is some urgency to this request this year, as dues income is not keeping pace with expenses. All of this was detailed in my pledge letter, which you recently received.

The Finance Committee, in cooperation with the professional staff, has done a wonderful job in holding expense growth to a minimum next year. But it will take an increase in dues income to cover these expenses. All of us need to look within ourselves and ask, "Am I pledging my Fair Share?"

Our 2% Fair Share policy recognizes that as a temple community we have a collective responsibility to pledge according to our means. We've established a basic dues target of $1500 this year, the sustaining cost of membership. Those that can do more will be performing the mitzvah by helping others who are unable to meet this target. If your resources allow, please join one of our Pledge Circles. And let me reassure those with limited resources that all are welcome to enter our gates.

We are also asking those who prefer to pay by credit card to make a modest annual donation to help offset the cost of accepting your card. A reminder, too, that it costs less for us to physically swipe your card than to manually enter your card's details.

Please complete your Pledge Form and return it to the office now. Be as generous as you are able. A submitted Pledge Form will ensure timely receipt of your High Holy Days tickets.

B'Shalom,
Gary Singer, President
