Congregation Albert Brotherhood - May 2004

Brotherhood News

"Robots: The Future Is Now"

Robots are presently exploring Mars, building our cars, fighting in our wars and vacuuming our homes. They are profoundly reshaping our individual lives and the entire world.

Dr. Greg Starr will be our featured speaker at the May 16 brunch sponsored by Brotherhood. He received a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and has been a University of New Mexico professor of mechanical engineering since 1977. He is highly regarded for his expertise on robotics and automation.

Dr. Starr will provide a thought-provoking, non-technical talk on robots that will cover: an historical perspective, popular misconceptions, impacts on our daily lives, hazardous environment applications, warfare, antiterrorism, space exploration, and other current research topics.

Brunch will begin at 10 a.m. in the Social Hall. The cost is $6 for Brotherhood members and $8 for all others. Reservations should be made by May 13 by calling the CAB Response Line at 883-1818, ext. 3203, and leaving your name, telephone number and number of people for whom reservations are being made. Reservations can also be made with members of the CAB Calling Committee, who will contact those people on the phone lists the week prior to the brunch.

We look forward to seeing you.
