From the President - November 2001

In several prior articles, I have extolled the special qualities of Congregation Albert. I want to give you yet another example of just how outstanding our congregation is and how our members can and do make a significant difference.

Our cemetery, over time, has fallen into disrepair. The irrigation system is failing, the drainage is poor, the roads are deteriorating, the walls are cracking, and the grave sites need attention.

These problems have developed over some time, but two members of our congregation are making a special effort to do something about them. A year ago Alan Levine and Marty Mondlick took a special interest in our cemetery. They identified the problems, spent countless hours developing a plan to fix the problems and persisted in getting funding for a master plan to address the problems on into the future. As a result of their persistence and hard work, we decided to dedicate part of the Kol Nidre Appeal Fund to address these widespread problems.

I am pleased to report that as a result of your generous contributions, major repairs are now taking place and we can expect over time that our cemetery will be restored to a beautiful and honorable place of rest for our loved ones. I invite you to visit our cemetery and see the wonderful work that Marty and Alan have initiated. Please take this opportunity to thank Alan and Marty for the wonderful job they have done and for their dedication to the difficult job of restoring our cemetery. If you have not yet responded to the Kol Nidre Appeal, please take this opportunity to do so now.

Thank you, Alan and Marty.
