Join One of Our Youth Programs Today!
Grades 4-6
Congregation Albert youth in Grades 4 through 6 now have their own Temple Youth Group! We are planning at least one fun-filled social event per month throughout the school year as a new and exciting way to bring our kids together and build community! Any Jewish child, whether affiliated with Congregation Albert or not, is welcome.
Our kick off event was a well-attended and lively pool party. The kids brainstormed ideas which were incorporated into this year's planning. We also had a pre-vacation roller skating event that was enjoyed by more than 20 group members, their siblings and parents.
Events are publicized by flyer and e-mail. (Please e-mail me your address to get on this list.)
Our upcoming events include:
We are planning a children's book drive for next fall, so save those books your child has outgrown for our mitzvah project. Thanks to all of you who helped inaugurate this program with your ideas, plans, assistance and participation. It will be fun to watch this group develop as our children grow.

7th and 8th Graders
The 7th and 8th graders have begun to enjoy a pleasant, "no pressure" time, following Kabbalat Shabbat, for painting peace rocks and starting a scrap book that may well turn into a literary and editorial marvel. This is an on-going activity, so anyone in 7th and 8th grade can call Judy Jamison Mindlin (or email at jjamison@rt66.com) to get more information about the time and place. Get involved and help your 7th and 8th grade friends choose a name for this group.
We also invite you to join us for the congregational family dinner which follows the family Shabbat service each month. This dinner features an art table where the children create their "masterpiece" following dinner while adults enjoy that all-too-rare opportunity for civilized conversation. It was during the last Family Shabbat Dinner that I met Martin Goldman from the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. He will return in April as our guest speaker at the Yom Hashoah Service. You never know who will show up at the family dinner. Check the Bulletin each month for your dinner reservation flier.

TASTY News
How exciting our year has been! We started off the year with our usual El Paso/Albuquerque trip to Elephant Butte. We traveled to Malibu for the first time and then our usual conclaves in Arizona. Two of our TASTY members were fortunate enough to participate in the NFTY National Convention where they spent time with over 800 Reform youth from throughout the country. We end our year of travel in April where we will meet in Arizona for Spring Conclave.
We also were busy here at home. Our Yom Kippur food drive provided the Jewish Family Services with enough food to stock their shelves. We will follow this up with our 2nd annual "Pass It On For Passover" food drive, again to benefit the Jewish Family Services. Our Friday night creative service was quite successful. We also sorted food for the Roadrunner Food Bank. We helped Brotherhood with the latke dinner, scooped ice-cream for the Green Chili Jam Band Social, and had many fun events. This month we will once again be running the games at the Purim Carnival.
Our Sunday morning bagel sales have allowed us to participate in the Pomelos for Peace program with Israel. We are working on purchasing a Torah cover for the congregation. We also donated money to the new Tolerance Museum and bought a brick at the Natural History Museum. We cannot even begin to thank everyone here at Congregation Albert for all the support you have given us over the years. You truly have made a difference in our lives. Thank you.
