From the Social Action Committee - June/July 2000

Have you been wondering about our Congregation Mitzvah Day? Have you missed the joy that came as a reward for the volunteer work of that day after working on a team with fellow congregants ?

In the spirit of Tikun Olam, the Social Action Committee is changing the focus of Mitzvah Day from a once a year event to more on going projects.

Many of you reported that your work on Mitzvah Day was productive and rewarding. Many felt a commitment to the site or to the project on which you worked. We hope that those who participated in Mitzvah Day in the past OR those who would like to give it a try now will find a "home" on one of the volunteer action groups described below. These are ACTION teams, not committees. (Note: Wonderful tzedakah opportunities for Bar/Bat Mitzvah students! )

If there is a site you feel needs our help and/or you would like to be a site captain contact Judy Smith or Francine Cogen.

Please participate in our quarterly Social Action Committee meeting. Next meeting is June 13, everyone is welcome. Contact us for time and location or if you have an idea for a project.
