From the President - June/July 2000

Dear Friends,

While I usually discuss upcoming events or issues, this month I want to reflect on two very successful fundraisers we had recently. Not only were these two events very successful financially, but they were extraordinarily enjoyable and community building.

The first event was Night Out on the Town. Eighty-five people attended the symphony followed by a delicious dinner at the Albuquerque Country Club. There, we were joined by the star performers of the evening. This special night gave participants a chance to enjoy a cultural evening, dine elegantly and socialize with friends in the Congregation. I can't tell you how many people told me what a wonderful time they had and how they look forward to having this event every year. Next year, we will go out on the town on April 20th! Thank you, Julia Kalmus for all your hard work in arranging this event.

The second event was the Golf Tournament. Again, the camaraderie was exceptional and even non-golfers had a great time. The golf was superb and the prizes were fabulous. We even had a $100 prize for the winner of the Longest Putts Contest! The Golf Tournament is unique in our Temple fundraising because we receive a large portion of our money from non-temple members, like the Albuquerque Journal, as well as from Temple members. Next year's tournament will be held on May 6th. Thank you, David Goldstein and Tom Ashe, for all your hard work as co-chairs to make this event such a success.

These two fundraisers raised more than $14,000. Thank you to all of you who worked at, participated, and supported these events.

Todah Rabah,
Karen Kahn
