From the Director of Education - June/July 2000

Although the 1999-2000 school year has ended, many wonderful summer programs are gearing up for children of all ages. The Early Childhood Center is once again offering a three day a week summer fun playgroup for children from two through five years of age. Two three-week sessions have been planned: Session I is June 12-30 and Session II is July 10-28. For more information, please call the school office at 883-0306.

Camp Oranim, under the direction of Roger Goldstein, will begin June 11. The one-week sleep away camp is located just outside of Santa Fe. Children entering grade 3 through grade 7 are eligible to attend. The campers will have the opportunity to swim, participate in arts and crafts, Jewish study, music, sports, and other camping activities. Rabbi Black and Cantor Shuchat-Marx are planning to join the wonderful staff of adult and youth leaders who will be guiding the campers through the planned activities. Registration forms are available through the religious school office.

I am looking forward to seeing you on Friday morning, June 9 when twenty one outstanding students from our tenth grade will be confirmed. Attending Confirmation and Shavuot service is a wonderful way to support our students who have successfully completed their formal Jewish education at Congregation Albert. Please join me in honoring our students and their families by performing the mitzvah of celebrating the holiday of Shavuot and the simcha of their confirmation at the 10:30 AM service.

B'Shalom,
Leah Schaer
