From the Director of Education - May 2000

As the school year draws to a close, it's hard to believe the time has passed so quickly. It is also a time that, as educators, we reflect and evaluate the school year. Watching our youngest Hebrew students go from learning the letters and vowels of the Hebrew language to reading and reciting entire prayers from the prayerbook, has been a joy for me. It has also been equally wonderful to see our adult education courses flourish with adult learners engaged in study. All this is possible thanks to a dedicated Religious Education Committee chaired by Rebeca Zimmermann and our talented and committed teaching staff.

I would like to say a very special thank you to the entire faculty and Religious Education Committee, our Early Childhood Center, Hebrew and Religious schools, as well as the teachers who have taught our Adult Education courses. Each and every one of you has put your heart into your job.

We teach our children "honor our parents." It is equally important for us to teach them to honor their teachers as well. I invite all of you to join us as we say todah rabah (thank you) to our teachers on Friday, May 19th at 6:00 PM for our annual Family Shabbat and Teacher Appreciation Service.

B'Shalom,
Leah Schaer
