Sisterhood News and Tributes - April 2000

The big news for this month is our annual election of officers held at our March luncheon meeting. The new officers for the coming year are:

Vice President, Fundraising Joyce Friedman
Vice President, Programs Jan Lifson-Bray
Vice President, Membership Diana Paul
Recording Secretary Rosalia Feinstein
Corresponding Secretary Lillian Warshawsky
Financial Secretary Joan Lubin
Treasurer Ida Humphrey

These new officers will be installed at the Sisterhood Sabbath on Friday, May 12th. Hope you will all join us.

Our sincere thanks to Sue Black and her committee, Brotherhood, TASTY, and all the other Purim volunteers for all the great effort in making the "Purimillenium 2000" such a big success. Both adults and children had a wonderful time!

Sisterhood will sponsor the oneg on Saturday, April lst when our scholar-in-residence, Rabbi Rachel Sabath, will lead a study luncheon on "Changing Circumstances: The Role of Women". Please join us.

Mark your calendar to join us on Sunday, April 9th for the Joint Sisterhood/Brotherhood brunch.

Plans are already underway for our third Moveable Feast on Saturday, August 26th. Call Joyce Friedman if you can be a host house for either appetizers or dinner.

B'shalom,
Henri Courtnage, President

Sisterhood is sponsoring a Bereavement Support Group every Friday from 1pm-2pm beginning April 7th. The group will meet in Congregation Albert's library. The support group is open to all congregational members. The group facilitator will be Pearl Gross. If you have questions, please call Pearl Gross or Henri Courtnage.

Together we can help each other through this most difficult time.

Once again, Sisterhood will be sponsoring a congregational UNIONGRAM to each member of our 2000 Confirmation Class. Shavu'ot—the celebration of the giving of the Torah and the reading of the Ten Commandments—will be marked by the Confirmation of our 10th grade students on June 8, 2000.

Join with other members of the Congregation in sending your good wishes by UNIONGRAM.

Watch your April mail for the details! Contact Joyce Friedman for further details.

Congregation Albert Donor Lunch will be held at the Albuquerque Country Club on May 18th at 11:00 a.m. The program will be a musical performance of Broadway Classics with guest stars, Samatha Blauwkamp and Dr. Ron Bernitsky, from Music Theater Southwest (formally A.C.L.O.A). Join Fran Liberman and Jane Thompson for a delightful brunch and a special afternoon—plus helping Sisterhood with a $36.00 Donation.

Please call Fran or Jane for reservations by MAY 12th
