From the President - April 2000
Dear Friends,
I have been attending our Long-Range Planning Sessions. Each one is on a different aspect of temple life and different people come to the different meetings. The Committee will have a big job digesting all that was said and formulating recommendations to the Board. We look forward to receiving that report.
In the meantime, I have noted that at all the meetings, we hear over and over a desire by congregants to feel connected to the temple communityfor younger people to get the chance to know older people, for someone to call when they are sick or injured.
While we wait for the Committee to present recommendations of things we can do to help people feel connected, I challenge all of you to be friendly and welcoming to other congregants. Reach out to new members and people you don't know. Take the time at an oneg to introduce yourself to someone you don't know; at a function, sit next to people you haven't met before; talk to others who are standing around waiting for kids or for classes to start.
Gail Rubin, Mindi Horwitch, Cheryl-Lani Branson, and Tracy Dillinger recently provided a delicious kiddush lunch to everyone at the Saturday service just because they wanted to. It was a wonderful opportunity to talk to people that we seldom see or have the opportunity to visit with. It reminded me of how friendly we can be.
Congregation Albert is made up of wonderful people. Lets make everyone feel welcome.
B'Shalom,
Karen Kahn
