Sisterhood News and Tributes - February 2000

We hope all of you have your tickets for the Green Chili Jam Band concert at 1 PM, Sunday, Feb. 6th at Congregation Albert. Tickets purchased before the concert are only $4 for adults and $2.00 for children. The day of the concert the price goes up to $6 for adults and $3 for children. Tickets may also be purchased at the temple office.

This is a concert you don't want to miss. This humorous, up-beat Band played to a packed house at the Albuquerque zoo last summer. While their music is undoubtedly kid-friendly, the band will appeal to everyone. So bring a lunch and we'll provide the drinks, ice cream and toppings. You can't beat that!

Dazzling, colorful contemporary southwestern clothes and innovative accessories will be presented by "Articles" of Winrock Center in a delightful fashion show featuring models from our sisterhood on Monday, February 14 at 11:45 AM. A 10% discount coupon will be given to each attendee! Call Arlene Paglia by February 8th for reservations. Babysitting available by request. Let us know if you need a ride.

The Dec. 20th evening program was excellent. Our appreciation to Maggie Newman and Adam Schaer for telling us about their summer youth program in Israel and to our Educational Director, Lear Schaer, for bringing us up-to-date on our religious school. Bouquets to all the ladies who baked those delicious desserts.

Have you signed up for the new Sisterhood Book Study Group? It begins on Feb. 8th and continues each Tuesday through February from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Glenda Orchant will be our leader for these sessions based on the book by Dr. Maria Harris. We encourage both men and women to attend. No charge for Sisterhood members; non-members are $10. Contact Leah Schaer to enroll.

Sue Black needs volunteers to help out with the Purim Carnival on Sunday, Mar. 19th. Please donate your white elephants for sale at the carnival. Bring your items to the Temple or call me.

The UAHC 65th Biennial Convention in Orlando, Dec. 14-19th was truly inspiring. It isn't often you can interact and worship with almost 5,000 other Jews from all over the world. Congratulations to our own Sisterhood member, Jane Wishner, who was installed as a new Board member of UAHC.

B'shalom,
Henri Courtnage, President
