Jewish Catholic Dialogue - January 2000

One of the most rewarding roles I play in community life is my participation in the Jewish Catholic Dialogue of Albuquerque. This year, I have the honor of being the chairperson. This group is dedicated to fostering understanding between our faith communities through study and action. Each year, the Dialogue sponsors a colloquium featuring prominent speakers who address a theme of common interest. The theme for 2000 is "Proclaim Jubilee" and a very exciting day is planned for the anticipated two hundred plus that are expected to attend.

I am very pleased to announce that Rabbi Paul J. Citrin will be one of our guest presenters. As many of you may remember, Rabbi Citrin played a significant role in the creation of the Dialogue and continues to be one of its greatest supporters. Sister Jose Hobday of Gallup will be the other speaker. Her reputation as a passionate social activist and great storyteller is well known in Catholic circles.

The Colloquium will be held on Tuesday March 7th at Congregation B'nai Israel. It will begin at 8:30 A.M. with registration and a light breakfast. The program will feature presentations by our guests, a dialogue between them, and workshops where all attendees will have the opportunity for both conversation and "hands-on" activities. Lunch will be catered by Scalo's Restaurant and will feature beautiful music along with the great food!

Watch for your registration form and make plans to celebrate with us as we begin a new century in a meaningful and ecumenical way.

Please call me, Glenda Orchant, for more information about the Dialogue and/or Colloquium or send an e-mail to gorchant@aol.com.
