Sisterhood News - December 1999
On Monday, Dec. 6th all Sisterhood members are invited by B'nai Israel Sisterhood to be their guests at a noon luncheon. See details in this bulletin and plan to join us. We alternate the December luncheon with B'nai Israel Sisterhood.
It was exciting to see so many of our members at the Book Study Group led by Glenda Orchant. We started the study group on Oct. 26th with twenty-one participants and it continued through Nov. 23rd. We are now more informed on the contents of The Harlot By the Side of the Road. We hope to offer another educational study in the Spring. The good turn out was encouraging. There is an audience for Jewish study within Sisterhood!
It was encouraging to meet so many new members of the congregation at the recent Newcomers Brunch. We extend our hand of friendship and fellowship to all our new members and hope to see many again at our December meetings.
All women unable to attend our daytime meetings ..do come to our evening meeting on Monday, Dec. 20th. The program is worthwhile, the desserts will be delicious, and Sisterhood will have the opportunity of meeting all of you that are unable to make our noon lunch programs.
Sisterhood is sponsoring a special event the afternoon of Feb. 6th. The Green Chili Band will be at Congregation Albert. This group has something for all ages. Invite your friends and neighbors to come and enjoy this family musical event.
Sunday, Mar. 19th is the Purim Carnival and we need the help of everyone. Sue Black is our chairperson. Please call her or call me and say we can count on you. Your commitment is only for the one day and the money raised goes to a great cause our Religious School.
Next month I will report on the Women of Reform Judaism Convention which is being held in conjunction with UAHC in Orlando, FL. Marcia Rosenstein and I are attending as Sisterhood delegates. The theme is "Women Approaching Torah, Tradition and Tomorrow." It is a very inspiring meeting of over 4,000 delegates. No doubt new ideas will come forth from such an environment to help us serve Sisterhood and the Congregation.
Stop and say hello at our Gift Shop display at the community Chanukah Festival on Sunday, Dec. 5th.
B'shalom,
Henri Courtnage, President
