From the President - December 1999

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your generous support of this year's Kol Nidre Appeal. As you know, our dues income cannot pay for all the programs we provide and meet the expenses of operating our temple. It is through your generosity in supporting our fundraising that we are able to provide quality and diverse activities.

Your generosity this year in responding to the Kol Nidre Appeal will permit us to:

• assist youth in visiting Israel,
• bring in Rabbi Rachel Sabath as a scholar-in-residence this spring,
• offer a Jewish Home Companion Series for members with minimal or no Jewish knowledge,
• co-sponsor a lecture by Franz Blau on Nazi doctors on January 12th,
• offer other new adult education,
• provide scholarships to help students to attend the 7th grade Religious School retreat in Los Angeles,
• purchase Jewish software for individual adult study,
• grant scholarships to Religious School students who can not afford Religious School and/or Hebrew School tuition,
• send Religious School teachers and our youth to continuing education opportunities such as those conferences sponsored by the Coalition for the Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE),
• offer new activities for our post-B'nai/pre-confirmation youth at Congregation Albert.

Thank you for your contributions. Education is a top priority for this congregation and your response to this year's Kol Nidre Appeal affirmed that priority. As the end of the tax year draws near and you are reviewing your tax-deductible charitable contributions, please remember that we are always in need of scholarship money for our students in Religious School and funding for "informal" education, such as trips to Israel.
