Sisterhood News - November 1999
Is it possible that two months have already passed since the High Holidays? Have we tried to carry out the promises we made for the New Year? Are we really trying to be better people now than we were this past year? Let us have a sense of gratitude for the gift of each day.
The September Vintage Fashion Show was a huge success with over one hundred people attending. Fourteen of our own members were models with Cantor Shuchat-Marx doing a superb job of moderating. Everyone had a great time! Many thanks to Arline O'Callaghan, Diana Paul, Janet Ehrlich, Jane Thompson, and Melanie Rosenthal for all their hours of hard work as well as Jacie Coryell who dressed the models.
The professional cleaning of the kitchen was completed the end of October. Brotherhood, Temple and Sisterhood shared in this expense.
For the first time, Sisterhood is now giving a free one year membership to all new women temple members. We sincerely hope that this first membership will encourage our new temple women to become active in Sisterhood. We welcome all of you with outstretched arms!
The first meeting of our Book Study Group started Tuesday, Oct. 26th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. If you are interested and missed the first meeting, come to the next one on Nov. 9th. Glenda Orchant is our discussion leader. Sisterhood is pleased to reach out and include Jewish study in our activities.
Mark your calendars for Sisterhood meetings on days other than Monday afternoon:
Hope to see all of you at the Nov. 8th meeting on Herbs and Stress with Dawn Hardgrave.
B'shalom,
Henri Courtnage, President
