From the Director of Education - November 1999

The fall holidays are behind us culminating with the joyous celebration of Simchat Torah. It was fabulous to see the sanctuary filled with congregants of all ages, singing and dancing with the Torah.

November tends to be a quieter month on the Jewish calendar but a very important month. We will be celebrating Jewish Book Month with our annual Book Fair being held on Sunday, November 14th. I would like to encourage all of you to please come and support the Book Fair, and remember to bring your children. I feel it is of utmost importance to continue to be role models to our children (of all ages) to motivate them to continue to read. When we recite the Shema we say "and you shall teach them diligently…". Please join the teachers and me by encouraging your children to build Jewish libraries at home as well as helping to continue to build the one here at Congregation Albert because books play an important part in everything we teach.

Shalom,
Leah Schaer
