Sisterhood News - October 1999

We hope you were able to attended the past two Sisterhood meetings. We had seventy-five people at our first luncheon on August 30th. Roger Melone and Krzystof Zimowski were superb. Many thanks to Arline O'Callaghan, Diane Paul, Janet Ehrlich and their committee for all their work on the Vintage Fashion Show Sept. 27th. There will be four other evening or Sunday meetings to make Sisterhood available to women unable to attend the day meetings.

Don't miss the next meeting on Monday, October 11th at 11:45 a.m. This is a complimentary lunch, prepared by Sisterhood, for all women who have paid their current dues. If you have not yet sent in your $30 for this year, send your check to Lydia Horowitz at the temple. Be our lunch guest on October llth!

Many thanks to Lillian Warshawsky for hosting the September 8th Board Meeting at her home. After the meeting, many of us stayed and enjoyed her wonderful pool. The theme of our meeting was "those who play together, stay together".

Lydia Horowitz and her committee did a magnificent job of having over 150 people participate in both sessions of the recent Procter and Gamble survey. We hope you all enjoyed your free products. Trudi Handleman supervised our refreshments and her efforts are greatly appreciated. Monies from this survey will help Sisterhood meet its commitments to the Temple and Religious School. Thanks to all of you who completed the survey.

Sisterhood sponsored onegs for S'lichot and Break-the-Fast. Brotherhood was our co-sponsor on Break-the-Fast Oneg.

There is still time to sign up for the Book Study Group starting Tuesday, October 26th from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Glenda Orchant will guide us through The Harlot By the Side of the Road, Forbidden Tales of the Bible by Jonathan Kirsch. Call Janet Barsky if you want to order a copy of this book for $12.00. Call the Temple office and tell them you want to be part of this study group. Sisterhood members are free and non-Sisterhood members pay $10 but this money can be applied toward Sisterhood dues. We will meet for the following three weeks at the same time each Tuesday, but skipping Election Day.

The 1999 Moveable Feast was a great success. Circle your calendars now for the next one on Saturday, August 26th year 2000!

B'shalom,
Henri Courtnage, President
