Beginning Prayerbook
Hebrew

For persons who have never studied Hebrew. the student who completes this course will be able to read and understand common words and phrases in "Gates of Prayer," the Reform Jewish prayerbook, understand the basic prayerbook vocabulary and feel comfortable with the weekday and Shabbat services.

Biblical Hebrew

For persons who have taken the Introduction to Prayerbook Hebrew in a previous term. The student who completes this course will gain a basic understanding of the structure of the Hebrew language, be introduced to principles of Hebrew grammar and secure a more in-depth understanding of the language, meaning, and sequences of siddur. this combination of topics will provide the student the ability to explore the depth and profound nature of one of the central texts of Jewish life.

Last May, the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) adopted a set of "Ten Principles of Reform Judaism," at its annual convention in Pittsburgh. These Principles were hotly debated prior to adoption and are still not universally embraced. In these sessions, Rabbi Black will share his perception of four key issues included in the Statement of Principles. There will be an opportunity for study and discussion. Each of the four issues will be discussed at the Wednesday Brown Bag session and during the Evening Seminar on the following day.

Come join us in a lively discussion of the joys and pitfalls of
being a Dad. In this session, we will discuss Jewish paradigms of
fatherhood, as well as exploring the modern-day experience of the
journey men take in their development at fathers.
It is our hope that this program will serve to launch an ongoing discussion group for fathers and grandfathers of all ages.
