Sisterhood News - August 1999
This summer has been very busy for all our members. By now we have all recovered from our recent "Trash and Treasures" rummage sale. It was a great success thanks to the generous donations of all of you and the many hours of effort given by the women who came down to help us. We are pleased to say that we took in over $2,500 during the sale. This money will go toward honoring our commitments to the Religious School and the Congregation. Funny stories, sore backs, tired bodies, but all worth it.
Don't forget to send in your High Holiday greetings to ensure inclusion in our Congregational New Year greeting. The deadline is August lst. Call Joan Lubin at 298-6282 or Janice Gordon at 299-8395 immediately if you haven't already returned your requests.
Our 2nd Moveable Feast will be Saturday, August 14th. Cocktails at 6:00 p.m. at one house and dinner at 7:30 p.m. at a second house. We all meet back at the temple at 9:00 p.m. for dessert and entertainment. Everyone had a great time last year and, hopefully, we will all have an even better time this year. For just $18/person, you are guaranteed a great meal and a night to remember. Call Joyce Friedman, 294-6842, or Marcia Rosenstein, 867-4899, for reservations or information.
A coffee for all Sisterhood new members and potential members will be held at temple on Tuesday, August 10th at 10:00 a.m. If you are not a member and have wondered what we are all about, stop in on the 10th and get acquainted. Everyone is welcome!
Dues notices for the coming year will be sent out to all current Sisterhood members. We would appreciate the return of your dues as quickly as possible. Annual dues are $30 and if you wish to become a donor, include an additional $36.
Flash! We have just been notified that we will once again be doing the Proctor and Gamble survey as a fund raiser for Sisterhood. They will be here Aug. 18th and Sept. lst. (both Wednesdays) from 1:30 p.m. until 8:10 p.m. To participate you must be available on both dates. We desperately need men and women under age 65 as we were short this age group last year. You do not have to be a temple member to participate. Please call Lydia Horowitz at 892-8589 if you can participate and/or help with the survey.
Save the date Sept. 27th for an evening style show and supper Sisterhood meeting featuring clothes from the 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's. If you have any clothes from these periods that we could use in the show, call Arline O'Callaghan, 881-6202. Further details will be coming in the September bulletin.
Our opening Sisterhood luncheon will be on August 30th at 11:45 a.m. Roger Melone will be our guest artist with an Asian lunch catered by Yen Ching Restaurant. Make your reservations now!
B'shalom
