Sisterhood News - April 1999

Attention all women who are not members of Sisterhood – Send in your $30 membership dues now and you will have Sisterhood membership for the remaining part of this year plus next year. A GREAT DEAL YOU CAN’T REFUSE!

Officers for the 1999-2000 year were elected at the March Luncheon. Please add the name of Jan Lifson-Bray, Program Vice President to the list of officers published last month. We welcome Rosalie Feinstein and Jan as new Board members. Mark your calendars to attend the Sisterhood Installation of Officers on Friday, May 14th.

Our Sisterhood received an award from Women of Reform Judaism for our significant financial commitment to the Y.E.S. Fund which helps rabbinical students, Reform youngsters and other specials projects. Stop and notice our new award on the plaque hanging in the Social Hall.

Join us for the coming Donor Brunch on Thursday, May 13th at the Albuquerque Country Club. Jane Thompson and Fran Liberman have a wonderful program planned. There is still time to be a 1999 Donor!

Our first evening meeting on Mar. 17th was a big success. We will be planning other evening and/or Sunday morning meetings for the coming year to better serve our working women.

M…stands for the Moror eaten at the seder to recall that the lives of our ancestors were embittered by the Egyptians.

A…represents the Aphikomon that the children search for at the end of the seder meal. The one that finds it always gets a prize.

T…is the Torah that tells us the story of Jacob going down into Egypt and the death of Joseph followed by the new king over Egypt who felt that the people of Israel were too many and too mighty.

Z…means Zionism which brought reality to the words "Next Year in Jerusalem".

O…is the story of the oppression of the Jews in Egypt that is told at every seder.

May we all celebrate this Passover with love and joy in all our hearts!

B’Shalom,
Henri Courtnage, President
