Sisterhood News - March 1999

It is finally happening! Sisterhood is having a night meeting on Wednesday, March 17th from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. This is a chance for everyone who hasn’t been able to make our daytime meetings. Dr. Marcia Laundau, a clinical psychologist, will speak about "Carving Out Personal Time for Yourself", a problem for the young and the old. Time will be provided for questions and discussion. Baby sitting (no charge) and transportation will be provided for those needing it. Light refreshments, coffee, tea etc. will be served. All Sisterhood members will be called by the regular monthly telephone committee. Everyone is welcome. There will be a $3.00 nominal charge for this meeting. If you are not called, notify Peggy Stroik at 293-0294 that you will be there.

Our Monday, March 8th luncheon meeting will feature our very own Arthur Sussman, speaking on "Views of an Artist". Once again, babysitting and transportation will be provided upon request.

Sisterhood donated $400.00 to TASTY to help members go to the NFTY Convention in Los Angeles in February. We are proud to help our youth who work for our congregation attend this very worthwhile meeting.

The Nominating Committee has compiled the following slate of Sisterhood officers for 1999-2000:

President: Henri Courtnage
Co-Vice Presidents Fund Raising: Joyce Friedman & Peggy Stroik
Co-Vice Presidents Membership: Janice Gordon and Linda Jones
Recording Secretary: Rosalia Feinstein
Corresponding Secretary: Lillian Warshawsky
Financial Secretary: Lydia Horowitz
Treasurer: Ida Humphrey
Past President: Marcia Rosenstein

Further nominations may be made from the floor during our March meeting when the election will take place.

Many thanks to Pat Byhoff and her committee for a wonderful Purim Carnival. The hamantachens will be marvelous and the bake sale a big success. Raffle winners will be published in the April bulletin. Appreciation is given to all the people that baked, worked and brought us their White Elephants. Proceeds from this event will go toward the Congregation and Religious School.

B’Shalom,
Henri Courtnage, President
