Kindergarten Program Resolution:
Congregation Albert Kindergarten enrollments for the 1999-2000 school year are below those of the past three years, the numbers (3-4 students) being insufficient to sustain a quality program.
We believe that final, long-term determination regarding kindergarten program should be abeyed pending outcomes of the Long Range Planning Process.
Decisions for the coming year must allow time for kindergarten staff as well as parents of prospective students to make their own plans for the coming school year.
The Religious Education Committee, based on their fiscal analysis of the program, finds the kindergarten, as currently structured, unable to be self-supporting, and therefore does not recommend its continuation for the coming school year.
It is resolved that the kindergarten program be suspended for the 1999-2000 school year, and that decisions for the future of the program be reconsidered based on the long-term plan of our congregation.
It is also noted that this resolution is presented with great regret.
The Board of Trustees expresses admiration and appreciation for Margo Danoff throughout her tenure as the kindergarten teacher.
We thank Margo Danoff, her staff, and the ECC administration for their support of the program and their loving kindness to the kindergarten students.
