Introduction to Prayerbook Hebrew

For persons who have never studied Hebrew. The student who
completes this course will be able to read and understand common
words and phrases in "Gates of Prayer", the Reform
Jewish prayer book, understand the basic prayer book vocabulary,
and feel comfortable with the Gates of Prayer, the weekday and
Shabbat siddur of the Reform movement.
Divine Ineffability: The Theology of Abraham J. Heschel

This six session course will sample the panorama of Heschel's
writings, using the book "Between God and Man". More
than any other modern Jewish theologian, Heschel maintained a
commitment to halakhah, prophetic passion and mystical
depth, continually clarifying the issues of a living Judaism for
modem women and men, with incisive spiritual and intellectual
honesty. Our readings and discussion will focus on the themes:
ways to G-d's presence; the G-d of the prophets, human needs;
religious observance; and, the meaning of our times.
Israel Behind The Headlines

Every week the major stories covered by the Israeli press will be
examined. We will engage in an in-depth analysis of the stories
and supplement our discussion with background information
relating to Israeli society, culture, and politics.
Savoring the Seder: Passover - Past, Present and Future
Instructors: Rabbi Isaac H. Celnik & Rabbi Joseph Black
Tuesdays beginning March 9th - March 30th,

Once again, Rabbis Black and Celnik will come together in this
popular format of discussion and dialogue. They also will be
joined by Cantors Perlman and Shuchat Marx.
No holiday is celebrated more in Jewish Tradition than Passover. Young and old, involved or unaffiliated, Jews around the world gather around the seder table and celebrate the ancient and ever-new message of freedom found in Haggadah. This course will provide us with an opportunity to broaden our experience of the seder. We will explore the history, traditions and symbols of Passover utilizing Rabbinic, Biblical and modern texts.
Scholar in Residence
Rabbi Peter Knobel who is the chair of the Liturgy Committee of the Central Conference of American Rabbis will be coming to teach from March 25th - 28th. We will be announcing the classes in the March bulletin.

During this weekly session, we come together to share a brown bag
lunch and study a variety of Rabbinic texts from Talmud and
Mishnah to Midrash and Zohar.
Anshei Mitzvah (Adult)

Wednesday Evenings: (Class closed)
7:00 PM- 8:00 PM
Students will receive instruction for participating in their own
B'nai Mitzvah ceremonies, including Hebrew Instruction,
participation in the Torah Service, chanting of the Torah and
Haftorah portions.
