From TASTY - December 1998

October has been an exciting month for TASTY. It began with our trip to Scottsdale, Arizona for our Social Action Weekend. We spend several hours on Friday participating in various projects, ranging from cooking at a homeless shelter to helping with musical therapy for disabled citizens to stuffing packets for the upcoming AIDS Walk. Our social activity started with a Havdalah under the stars and the Exploratorium, after which we got to try the various hands on exhibits and watch the incredible U2 laser light show. Overall, it was an incredible weekend full of fun, learning, and new friends.

Our next event was the combined TASTY/TAFFY trip to the corn maze. We spent hours searching for the secret word hidden in the dragon's eye. Though the prize for our find was small (a small sticker square), the overall benefits were large; a great bonding experiences for the TASTY and TAFFY kids, as well as a chance for the two different youth groups to mix and have fun together.

TASTY has been enthusiastically working on our first of several fundraising projects for the upcoming NFTY National Convention. TASTY members have been selling Jewish children's calendars for $10 each. The calendars follow the Jewish year, and include places for kids to draw their own pictures, recipes, and stickers for Jewish holidays, school holidays, and general reminders. If you would like to buy a calendar, please contact a TASTY member or leave your name and number in the TASTY box in the office. If you have already purchased one, thanks for your support!

TASTY is always looking for new members. If you would like to join, or would just like to come to our next event and try it out, please contact Robin Sena, Tamara Ning or Magi Newman.
