ACHIEVEMENTS FROM FIFTH GRADE

Teaching Religious School can certainly be rewarding, and Roger Goldstein has chosen to teach our fifth grade youngsters for about five years. The proof of the pudding, they say, is in what do the results really look like. Four of Roger's students have chosen to write about what they've learned in class.

Rachel Ely

My fifth grade year was good. I learned a lot of Hebrew and history. I surprised myself that I got 101% on my Hebrew test!

Lisa Duchen

In fifth grade I learned how to dance much better and I enjoyed Rabbi Black too. I also did art and go to tifilah. I like standing up and singing prayers. I had a lot of fun: Also I really like and I'm gonna miss the teachers.

Eva Beckett

When I was in Hebrew 5th grade, I learned how Jewish people pray. In history I learned how Moses burned his tongue and how Jacob's brothers lied. I learned a lot.

How I feel about being Jewish

I feel being a Jew is important because not many people are Jewish. I think more people should be nice to Jews. The reason is that people treat Jews like we're not people, we're not human. Especially in Jewish History.

Being Jewish is special because there are not much of us left in the world because of people killing us and starving us. Today in some countries, people are still treating Jews badly. I feel people should understand that we're in a bad position because may be in the future there will be no Jews.

THE ACT OF CREATION ACCORDING TO KINDERGARTNERS,
Spring 1998, OR, WHAT CAME FIRST, THE CHICKEN OR THE EGG?
[Editor apologizes for not including the first two days.]

On the 3rd day, God made plants, fruit, like pears, apples, peaches, applechips, potatoes, broccoli, carrots and lettuce.

Nathaniel Pogzeba

On the 4th day, God made; the stars, the moon, and the sun. They gave up light, and help us to see what day it is.

Adrienne Paul

On the 5th day, God made a whole bunch of eggs. When they hatched, the eggs cracked open, and birds flew all around the sky. God went swimming in the ocean and thought it needed more stuff. So he made animals like fish and frogs and plants.

Samantha Sheppard

On the 6th day, God was taking a walk and he saw birds in the sky and fish in the water, and thought we needed people and animals. Then it got dark and the day was over.

Brittany Marcus

On the 7th day, God napped and had good dreams of everything he had created. He loved all of his creations.
